Kitchen Tile Regrouting

Regrouting is a task where the grout lines in between the tiles are removed and then new ones grouted.

The process involves a number of steps which require experienced professionals like Tile and Grout Professionals. A common area where regrouting might be required is kitchens. It is not a DIY task and if not done properly it can cause a lot of damage including leaking kitchens and floors. Other side effects of improper regrouting may include efflorescence build up, cracked or falling out grout lines, dislocation of tiles.

Common reasons for regrouting are:

  • Leaking kitchens
  • Cracked grout lines
  • Leaking balcony floors
  • Missing grout lines
  • Permanently stained grout lines
  • Efflorescence deposits
  • Choice to change the colour of grout
  • Crumbling grout lines

Full kitchen tile regrouting is a time consuming process and usually requires the areas not to be used for at least 24 hours after completion. Most common causes for regrouting occurs in kitchen floors and walls where the grout is exposed to a lot of water and different types of chemicals due to use of shampoo, hair treatments as well as harsh cleaning chemicals like bleach. In case of a leaking kitchen, just sealing the tiles and grout might not solve the problem completely. The old grout must be removed; the lines must be cleaned, regrouted with new grout then sealed with appropriate sealer. Same rules apply to any leaking or efflorescence affected area.

Tile and Grout Professionals undertake the following important steps to achieve the best possible results:

1. All affected areas are closely inspected by our trained technician
2. Process is explained to the customer and all questions answered
3. Old grout is removed using specialised equipment
4. Grout lines are cleaned with a special solution
5. New grout is installed ( with a choice of colour)
6. Grout lines are cleaned and all grout haze removed from tiles
